John is a Master Electrician with over 30 years in the electrical field. John started his career in the United States Air Force, serving 4 years with a rapid deployment/heavy repair squadron. Upon his Honorary Discharge, John entered the industrial electrical construction field, working on large power production, waste to energy facilities, wastewater treatment, water treatment, feed mills, sawmills, and many smaller commercial projects, often in a project manager capacity. John spent 13 years as an electrical supervisor/technician with a large white pine lumber mill, installing, maintaining and upgrading sawmill and planer mill equipment such as edgers; headrigs; planers; sorters; and debarkers. He also has experience working with boilers, turbines, and kilns.

A true “jack of all trades,” John is expert in control system design, installation, and troubleshooting. His duties at Progress Engineering also include PLC programming; preparation of AutoCAD drawings; and work on communication systems, SCADA system programming, instrumentation, hydraulics, and design.

John has extensive experience with multiple manufacturers’ PLCs, including Allen-Bradley; Automation Direct; Schneider Electric/Modicon; Omron; GE; and Bailey Net 90. He also has detailed familiarity with AC and DC drives and softstarters from many manufacturers.

John is a State of Maine Master Electrician, with many certificates in job-related courses, including training in OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E, NFPA 70, industrial automation, and management.
